    Time Event
    9:34p
Righto... possibly bad news RE: me and my job and my ongoing saga of trying to switch sites...

So, two weeks ago, my boss guy told me that he had said to the scheduling manager, and I paraphrase, "We need to get someone to cover these shifts, and we need to get it done in two weeks."

Two weeks later, that is now, there is nobody to cover the site. So my boss obviously wants me to "hang in there" a little longer.

Some dates: I started at this site on January 26th. My 6-month contract is up by that date at the very latest, and is probably up already or in the next week (I don't know offhand, I should probably go check that out). I requested a switch of sites on May 7th. Therefore, as of this week, it has been two months and a week, or ten weeks, since I made my request.

So for me to "hang in there" is a wee bit ridiculous, methinks.

Anyhoos... I called my boss today, said that I'm just done, I can't handle another 4-day week there. Which is when I learned that the people he had in mind to replace me bailed on him (this is not the first time I've heard this story).

So after I made it very clear I'm fed up, he said he'll call me tomorrow. His manner suggested that I could have forced the issue and simply said, "No, not good enough," but one can never be sure and without a good backup plan that sort of thing is foolish. Never back someone into a corner unless you have some idea what you're gonna do when they react badly to it. This also gave me some time to think.

When he calls (or if he doesn't and I have to call him), this is the plan:

    1) insist that he effectively gave me two weeks notice two weeks ago, and that therefore I have no obligation to show up this coming week. If he agrees, I will not show up. If he does not agree, and insists that what he said does not constitute a "two weeks notice" (which it very well legally may not), I will make the following ultimatum...

    2) accept my two weeks notice from Paladin period, or accept that I am finished with the site. Explain that, if they cannot make the relatively small sacrifice of calling people in for seven days, then there was clearly no point to me sticking it out for over two months. Also explain that I have been operating on good faith with them, believing them when they said that they were "working on it", and that I do not feel I have been dealt with in kind. I already made the point (today) that if I had simply given them two weeks notice way back, there WOULD HAVE BEEN SOMEONE THERE, PERIOD.

So... after tomorrow, I'll either be done with the HCC forever, or have two more weeks with Paladin and then I'll be done with them forever. I'm afraid it's the best I can do (for those who don't know, if I break the contract, I owe them about $1000, so I'd rather not do that). I'm sorry all. If it weren't for this contract, I'd have been out of there ages ago.

    EDIT: Mwahahahahahahaha!
